As long as the asker knows the answer? You mean the asker is unconsciously indicating to the dog when to stop counting? Posssible I suppose. You know the experiment about the dog moving to the door at home everytime his master got up at work to come home? Might tie in with the unconscious signal thing. Or did the film the dog alone on it’s own?? Can’t recall.?

I agree, its still pretty amazing. What’s more amazing is that the cues aren’t just given by the trainer, studies have been done to show animals trained for this trick can answer questions from anyone, as long as the asker knows the answer. Neat, huh?
Starwisher2180 …. no shes not eating them dog trainers even ppl who take there dogs to dog shows will put the treats in front of there teat on the bottom part of there mouth .. i know my self, its just a lot easyer that digging in your pocket for them or worrying about dropping them if they were in your hand
My dog (golden retriever…aka: pigs disguised as dogs) will eat absolutely ANYTHING. BUT… I have him trained to “leave it”… I can even put a treat on his paws. I’m still trying for his nose, but it’s tough. LOL.

and i have two chihuahuas and a mixed dog and i traind the older chihuahau and the mix to lay down and sit but the younger chihauhaus too young and we just got her yesterday.
